E-Tickets
For the last few years, we’ve been working with clubs in Manchester and Ibiza to develop an easy-to-use e-ticket selling system that also features smartphone barcode scanning.
How does it work?
1. We either provide you with a new website, or turn your existing site into a e-ticket selling store
2. Your customers then purchase e-tickets for upcoming events on the website, paying by credit card or PayPal
3. Customers access their e-tickets online, there is no postage required
4. E-tickets can be printed out, or shown on a smartphone to door staff
5. The e-ticket or smartphone is scanned with a simple hand held controller which allows or denies entry, and speeds up queue times.
Selling tickets through your own website gives three major advantages.
Improved cashflow
If you are selling advance tickets through a 3rd party, you have to wait till after the event to receive payment. With your own ticket selling website, you receive the money up front.
Increased revenue
People who buy any kind of e-ticket online are used to paying a form of booking fee. We recommend our clients charge a nominal 10% booking fee on top of the price of the e-ticket, creating a brand new revenue stream previously kept by the 3rd parties. Independent e-ticket sellers usually charge a booking fee to customers of between 12% – 18%.
Additional customer data
Simply put, there is nothing more important than building an accurate database of your paying customers. Marketing events becomes as simple as emailing targeted e-flyers to relevant customers, who you know are likely to buy e-tickets, because they have before.
You can maintain your relationship with your current ticket agency, but in time your reliance on them will reduce as your customers know they can get their tickets directly from the venue’s website.
Case Study
We have been working with Sound Control in Manchester, providing them with an e-ticket selling website, which in the last 6 months, have grown to over 500 sales a month.
Ben (Promotor at Sound Control) says:- “We first approached deathbydesign for a solution to our external ticketing issues, as we knew they built the e-ticket scanning system used at Sankeys. The DBD Scan system has been amazing, perfect for our needs. Getting access to funds before an event makes a huge difference to us, but the customers love it too. No one else in Manchester sells e-tickets that can be scanned from an iPhone. Very cool.”
E-tickets reduce the production and distribution costs connected with traditional paper-based ticketing channels and increase customer convenience by providing new and simple ways to purchase tickets.
